Bad Credit Finance

Credit reports scores, FICO can be raised! Bad credit can be fixed!

Despite signs of a slowly thawing economy, several Nevada businesses recently filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, a reminder that a complete recovery is still a ways off.

Both of the companies highlighted in the latest round of Nevada bankruptcy announcements are based out of the town of Henderson, located just outside of Las Vegas.

One of the companies, an investment and real estate firm known as Millenium Holding Group, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy after a series of failed ventures in banking and mortgages. The other, an educational company called Mobius Mathematics, filed for bankruptcy after its academic enrichment programs failed to catch on and become profitable.

Millenium Holding Group, owned by a couple, Richard and Carla Aufdenkamp Ham, was a publicly traded company that sought to find profit in real estate deals, financial products and mortgage banking.

Debt settlement with Citibank

Citibank debt settlement is easier to achieve these days, especially if you can wait it out until Citibank gives you an offer you can’t refuse. You would have to ignore many phone calls. If do pick the phone up, and the offer is not to your liking, politely explain that you have to consider it. You can settle with Citibank in two ways. Offers must be received in writing.

The first settlement is the percentage of the amount you owe. Recently may borrowers have managed to settle their unsecured debts for as little as 20% of the debt amount. So for someone owing $20,000 to Citibank, the settlement amount would be just $4,000. Not bad, but any offer under 40% should be seriously considered.

The second Citibank debt settlement that many are offered is 0% interest rate for 12 months with automatic monthly payments deducted from your checking account. This is a very nice deal, if you can afford it. For $10,000 debt, the monthly payment would be $833.33, a significant chunk of change for many.

If you’ve been sued for unpaid debt, it’s easy to go into denial mode and ignore it. If you’ve been reading my blog, you know that denial is never a good solution. However, there are at least 5 actions you should not take if you’ve been sued by a creditor.

  1. Don’t ignore. I meet with so many clients who will say things like, “well, according to google, I can just ignore it” or “the summons was just left on my doorstep so I thought it was safe to ignore because I was not properly served.” We’ll leave my thoughts on “googling” your problems alone for now. However, I will say that there is lots of false information on Google! Please do yourself a favor and call an attorney.
  2. Don’t call the creditor’s attorney. I know. You’re probably thinking, if I can just explain my situation to the creditor’s attorney, he will understand and drop the case. WRONG! Creditors are after one thing – money. And believe me when I say this, t

Free Credit Score

What used to cost you $15.95 is now free.

As of January 1, 2011 lenders will be required to tell you the reasons why you may have been charged a higher interest rate and most commonly this is because of your credit score.

For many years consumers have been able to receive free copies of their credit reports but they had to pay for the all-important number that provided the make or break for receiving credit or for receiving the most favorable terms.

Now many consumers will be able to receive this all-important information that can help them to put their credit back on the right track.

Too easy almost!  Second chance bank accounts can be received by just about anyone, and are a great alternative for those that are having a hard time getting an account at a traditional bank.  In this post I want to share with you how to get these accounts, as well as a brief explanation of how they work.  It’s easy, and you’re going to have a new bank account in no time at all!

The only thing that is required by every alternative bank is that you are a citizen of your country.  In the US that will require that you have a valid Social Security Card (that actually belongs to you!).  This was only implemented to make sure that people couldn’t get accounts under false names.  There isn’t a credit check, no income check, and no problems.

Application for a second chance banking account is very simple.  You will apply online by filling out a simple form that has the standard info like name, phone number, email address, etc. and you’re goi

One of the tasks for the New Year would be to review the credit report that you receive annually. Not only is it free for the consumers but it also doesn’t require signing up for anything. The Congress a few years ago had passed a law which required each of the 3 credit bureaus, Equifax, Trans Union and Experian to provide the consumer with a free copy of the credit report every year. Consumers also should understand that there is just the solitary source for the annual review. They need to go to the site annualcreditreport.com and follow the instructions. This credit report is very important as it tells the consumers how their credit history is shaping up. This is critical as a bad credit history would mean that the consumer’s creditworthiness is at question and he or she has to take steps in the right direction to repair the credit history.

There are quite a few for-profit companies that claim that they will provide a free credit report. How
